The workshop is an initiative of the School of Biological Sciences of the University of Bristol (UK) and The Instituto Tecnologico Superior de Felipe Carrillo Puerto (ITSE), Mexico. Financial support is provided by the British Council and CONACYT (National Council for Science and Technology) in Mexico through the Researcher Links scheme.
This event will take place in Mexico from the 12th to 14th of September 2017 at the ITSE facilities. The workshop will have a focus on sustainable development, including aquaculture and fisheries. A group of specialist researchers in aquatic resources from the UK and Mexico will present and discuss their research, that will include issues related to conservation, evolution, ecology, invasive species and pollution. Discussions will be used to establish the current status of aquatic resource use in Mexico, and identify opportunities for research collaboration between institutions in the UK and Mexico.
Researcher Links is part of the Newton Fund of the United Kingdom. The primary goal of the scheme is to promote collaboration in Science and Innovation, with a view to enhancing economic development and well-being in emerging economy countries.
