We aim to:
1) Bring together a community of researchers interested in tackling sustainable development of aquatic resources, focussing on aquaculture and fisheries.
2) Provide opportunities for early career researchers from the UK and Mexico to share experiences, present research, and develop collaborative research ideas.
3) Generate a horizon-scan document, identifying future issues in aquatic sustainable development, accompanied by information on the solutions and the collaborations and skill sets required.
4) Identify training opportunities both national and international, to broaden research skills of early career participants, including potential for long-term mentoring.
5) Identify research and implementation mechanisms that can be used to conserve indigenous aquatic biodiversity while promoting development, with a focus on invasive species in aquaculture and fisheries.
